Jayne Viola Joa

We
are sadden to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and Nana; Jayne
Viola, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the age of 73
years at the Drumheller Hospital.
She is
lovingly remembered by her husband Harold of 52 years; her daughter Cheryl
(Marty) Elkes; her son Blair; her 2 precious granddaughters Shelby and Brinley
Elkes; her brother and sisters Bruce (Margaret-Ann), Margaret (Brian) Finn,
Susan (Allan) Stewart, Marylou Anderson; brother and sister-in-laws Irene
Sather, Helen Thompson, Mildred Anderson, Gerry Joa and Pat Joa as well as
numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jayne is predeceased by her mom and dad, Isabell and Sydney; her brother
Ron; brother and sister-in-laws Art Joa, Norbert Joa, Marie Edwards, Ray Joa,
Rita Edwards and Leonard Joa.
Jayne was
born in Toronto and raised in Ottawa. In
the late 1950’s she moved to Red Deer, Alberta where she met Harold in 1958 and
then started their family life together.
In 1968 they moved to Drumheller where she worked at Highway 9 Express
and a as a receptionist in the dental profession until her retirement in
2001.
Jayne was an avid sports
enthusiast, who’s passion was curling and in later years she enjoyed reading,
crossword puzzles and travelling with Harold. But what she found most enjoyable
was watching her granddaughters grow up and to be the pride and joy in her
life.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St.
Anthony’s Catholic Church, 151 - 3 Street West, Drumheller on Thursday,
January 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of
flowers a donation in Jayne’s name may be made to the Lupus Society of Alberta,
Suite 200, 1301 – 8 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T2R 1B7 or the Heart and Stroke
Foundation, Suite 100, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6.
Messages of condolence may be left of the family.
My deepest sympathy to Harold, Cheryl, Blair and family on the death of your beloved Jayne, a wonderful and loved wife, mother and grandmother. May the memories she made with all of you bring comfort and support in the days and months ahead. I have great memories of fun times we spent together in our Drumheller days. God Bless all of you.
