Nick Morris
September 2nd, 2011
HOME AT LAST.
It is with peaceful hearts and gratitude for life that we, the family of Nick Morris, announce his passing at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on September 2, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
Born on November 3, 1920 in Opal, Alberta, Nick was the first child to Alex and Katerina Morris. Following an active childhood and self-education, Nick began working in the Oil Patch at an early age and retired from Petro Canada as a Field Foreman after a 33 year career. His retirement allowed him to pursue his passions of fishing, rock hounding and faceting. He also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, reading and travelling. Very seldom was Nick seen without a new vehicle to take him on his journeys near and far. Although his travels took him around the world he was the most content when at home working in the shop or yard. Nick is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 28 years Nan Morris, 3 sisters; Mille Komarniski, Mary (Alfred) Mathieu and Sonya Grandish, sister-in-law Pauline Morris, 6 stepchildren; Donald (Doreen), Glenda (Eddie), Mavis (Calvin), Shirley (Martin), Sandy (Gord), and Bev (Ian). He will also be fondly remembered by numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Allie Pierson, mother and father, brothers John and Richard Morris, sister-in-law, Grace Morris and brothers-in-law Ed Grandish and John Komarniski. Interment and a family Graveside Service will be at the Bentley Cemetery on Sunday, September 25, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB or the SPCA if so desired. “No eyes have seen, no ears have heard, no mind has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Messages of condolence may be left for the family.
