Bruce Snider

Bruce Snider of Red Deer passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the age of 94 years. Bruce was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 7, 1917 to Donald and Agnes Snider, and as a young man served in the Canadian Armed Forces in the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. He met the love of his life, Juanita, and they were married in 1947. Together through the years they owned and operated dog grooming businesses in Calgary and British Columbia. Bruce took a great deal of pleasure in doing, learning, and experiencing life and as a student of the University of Calgary, he not only received a BA, but went on to earn a Master of Arts at the age of 50. A favourite pastime of Bruce's was to hike with his son Kurt up the West Coast and into Chilkoot Pass and up to the Yukon. He faithfully read The Globe and Mail and McLeans, and often was reading several books at the same time. Bruce had a great love and respect for Aboriginal People, and also enjoyed all sports, especially a game of golf with friends, or billiards at the Corner Pocket. Bruce leaves to mourn his loss, his sister Betty Baker (Bryce) of Seattle, Washington, his nephew Dirk (Kristie) and family of Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Agnes, his wife Juanita and his son Kurt. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. In accordance with Bruce's wishes, no Memorial Service will be held.
I am so saddened to read of the loss of B.A., he was such an interesting man. I would like to make contact with someone from the family, if possible.
