Lawrence
Greif, beloved father of Barton Greif and Marlowe Greif passed away May 11,
2012 at the Michener Extendicare at the age of 100 years.
Lawrence and
Margret were married in 1935 and had three children Marlene, Barton and
Marlowe.
Lawrence was well known in the Bentley and Rimbey area as a farmer and later
as the owner of a meat market and a
garage. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and served on the United Church
board of Stewards in Bentley. The family moved to Red Deer in 1956 where he resided until his
death. Lawrence
worked in Real Estate, General Insurance, and Property Management. He was also
heavily involved with the Gaetz and Sunny Brook United Churches.
Lawrence is survived by his sons
Barton (Beverly) of Calgary,
Marlowe (Evelyn) of Perth Australia, son-in-law
Cliff Budd (Marlene) of Ponoka, 5
grandchildren, Terrill Budd, Michele
Thebeau, Steven Budd, Michael Greif and Charles Greif. He is also survived by
12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
including Nancy Walker of New Jersey USA and Gail Wilson of Bentley.
Lawrence was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 2003, his daughter
Marlene in 2002, granddaughter Laurel Nobel in 2001, granddaughter Tracy Peters
in 2002 and great –great grandson Caiden Melcosky-Peters in 2008.
A Graveside Service
will be held at the Bentley Cemetery on Tuesday May 22 at 2:00 PM with
refreshments to follow at the Bentley United Church.
