Valery Neilson

April 16th, 2015

NEILSON, Valery Heggie
April 5, 1948 - April 16, 2015

Valery's Baking is officially closed! On April 16th, 2015, Valery's work on this earth was finished and she was reunited with family and friends she hasn't seen in a long time. Her new work takes her to a wonderful place where she'll be walking, baking, gardening, and listening to Christmas carols to her heart’s content. The food is delicious and she will never gain an ounce! She left instructions for her loving husband of 45 years, Gordon Neilson of Delburne; and their 5 children, Stacey (Neil) Nelson, Tanya (Bob) Judd, Eryn (Kevin) Murray, Scott (Janelle) Neilson, and Caryn (Brett) Hill, to celebrate her life here. The work she will miss the most is playing with her 19 grandchildren, who she loved more than anything. She was born and raised in Raymond, AB, and was the sixth of eight girls, to Dean and Georga Heggie. We want our mom to know that she did a great job and prepared us well for life. We will miss her ability to make everyone feel welcome, her sense of humor, and her love for fun. She worked very hard all her life, up until the very end. She made a difference in the lives of many.

Please come and meet the family the night before service at the Church of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. We then invite you to join us and celebrate together at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3002 47th Ave, Red Deer, AB on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

Interment the following day in Raymond, AB.

So sorry to hear this news, it has been many years since I have seen any of the Neilson family but my memories of all our fun in the Stettler branch are still very fond. We had such great times there and I had so much fun teaching those little Neilson kids in Primary. I hope that your hearts will be peace filled and that you will always feel her love and presence in your lives. Condolences to you all.

We were sorry to hear of Valery's passing. We really enjoyed the times we spent together with the whole family and me with Valery as we raised kids, tried to get our piano lessons right for Lynette and generally shared life's ups and downs. She was such a comfortable person to be around. She will live on in all our memories and in my beat up old recipe shoe box that contains Valery's popcorn, Valery's pizza and more. You have our heartfelt sympathy. Love to you all.

To Gordon and family, we are very sad to hear of Valery's passing. We are very appreciative of the friendship, generosity and support that you, Valery and family have afforded my family over the years ranging from wedding cakes to tub rides. Our apologies for not being able to attend in person to celebrate her life with you. Thinking of you, Todd & Melanie

I am so sorry for the passing of Valery, she was such a special lady and will be missed by all! She was such a compassionate woman and loved by all that were fortunate enough to know her. My sympathies to Gordon and his family. They lived right next door to Mom and Dad as well as Dad and Gordon working together developed a close relationship at work as well as home and church. Valery was always there when you needed her. She was such a special friend.

Our prayers and sympathy go out to the Neilson family in the passing of Valery. In my years of working with and knowing Gordon and also teaching many of the Neilson children in Delburne, I came to know Valery as a very special and kind person. She will be missed by many but the memories will always be there. May she now be at peace in her resting place. God's Blessings to all the family.

We have been remembering all the fun times we spent with your family. The chocolate making, the Sunday's in Stettler, and the sightings of one or more of you visiting Aunt Georga from our back deck. Love always.

I am truly blessed to have known Val. The incredible love and commitment shown by Val and Gord to Joey was a joy to watch. Forever part of our Parkland family, Val will be truly missed.

We send our deepest condolences to the whole family. My good friend Myrna has shared some fond memories of her beloved sister. She will be sadly missed here, what a wonderful lady.

We are so saddened to hear of Valery's passing. I regret that it has been so long since we saw you. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your great loss. I considered her one of my dearest friends and have so many fond memories of both our families attending Stettler Ward. How blessed we are to know that she is in a better place having great reunions. God bless you all. Love and hugs, Bonnie and Harlan Borggard

Dear Gordon, Stacey, Tanya, Eryn, Scott, Caryn and families: I am so very sad for your loss, yet I can envision Valery laughing, baking, and visiting with everyone (including my dad) in a place where there is no pain or suffering, only happiness! I'm so very sorry that I can't be there to help celebrate the life of a very special lady that has always, and will always, hold a very special place in my heart. My thoughts are with you all. Much love, Tracy (MacDonell)

My heart is broken to have lost such an incredible woman. Valery remains one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever known. There are no words to express the love I have for such a wonderful person. I will miss her forever but am so thankful to have had her in my life.

To the Neilson family, Our condolences on the loss of your lovely mom and companion. We loved your mother very much as she was a very special lady. She was kind, loving, talented and gave her all for her family and church and friends. We went through a lot of memorable times when your family first moved to Delburne and unfortunately lost track of each other towards the end, never thinking the end would come so fast. Valerie and Gord you will always be in our hearts.

I will surely and truly will miss Valery.....It is correct to say that Valery had a way of making people feel welcome and loved... Condolences to Gordon and all of his family... you will all have to comfort each other because the space Valery has left is so very great ... Happy memories and your faith will sustain all of you though I am certain..Right now Valery is thinking of all of you in the most loving way... Valery was expert in thinking in the most loving way... Kind regards Hilda Burton

My heart goes out to Gordon and his family. It is a very difficult thing to loose your partner and mother for the rest of this lifetime but we have the comfort that comes from knowing Valerie is in a better place and has had a joyful reunion with many loved ones that will last for eternity. Further comfort comes from the knowledge that you all will be able to join her again and be with her for eternity. What a beautiful obituary. She must have been a wonderful woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

She was truly one of the best! Everybody loved her and we will miss her friendly smile so much.

Our thought s & prayers go out to each of you. So many wonderful memories of good times with Val. Tubing down the river, canoeing, weddings, mission farewells, New Years Eve at Bower Pond, good food good fun with family and friends. Belly River Pow Wow with Neilson & Bill & Mary Simons family. My love and sympathy to all of the Neilson and Heggie family. Valery was one of my dear friends in the Raymond 3rd ward. I never did get to taste her 'delicious rolls' but knew that she had a passion for baking. May you all be blessed with the peace and comfort that we are promised. Much love, Nola
