Sharon Smuland passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice surrounded by love after fighting a courageous battle with Cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shelly, grandson, Kalvin, granddaughter, Ashley and great grandson, Tycesen; daughter, Shannon (Darcy), and grandson, Kyle; son, Lorne Jr (Sharon Allen); longtime family friends, Lynn and Wally Spence of Calgary; sister-in-law, June (Kelly, Sherry and CJ) of Calgary; sister-in-law, Lila of Nanaimo, BC; cherished nieces, Susan (David) and Joan (Ray, Spencer and Jordan) of Red Deer; and longtime friends, Cherie and Lenny who were all there by her side at the hospital and hospice. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Alvin (Elaine) of Grand Prairie as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorne D. Smuland; brother, Lorne Webb; sisters, Hazel and Ethel; and parents, Estle and Ruby Webb.

Mom loved gardening and she was known for her beautiful red roses. She also loved to watch the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and of course hockey. Mom had a love for animals, bunnies, dogs, cats and horses. Most of all Mom was known for her beautiful smile, and warm loving hugs. The way she listened to people and treated everyone with kindness.

We wish to thank Dr. S. Kruger who lovingly cared for mom, Dr. Odendaal and Estrilita.  Thank you to Dr. Thain and all the staff on Unit 32 palliative at RDRH for their care of Mom. We also want to thank the entire staff at the Red Deer Hospice for their loving care of Mom, during her final journey.

A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held in a private room at ABC Country Restaurant, Friday, September 30, 2016 from 1-3 pm.
