Edward "Ted" Ray Kinsella

KINSELLA, Edward "Ted"

Ted was born March 18, 1934 in Innisfail, Alberta, to William “Bill” and Annie (Clifford) Kinsella. He grew up on the family farm, just south of Innisfail.  At the age of 17, in 1951, Ted joined his dad and brother Lloyd in Kinsella Drilling. In 1979-1980 Ted expanded and Kinsella Water Hauling was established.

On May 21, 1956, Ted married the love of his life, Alice Walz. Ted and Alice remained married for 41 years, only to be separated by her passing in June of 1997.

Mourning Ted’s passing are his four children and their families. Debbie (Eric) Howard, Danny (Kelly) Kinsella, Valerie (Michael) Graham, and Jack (Nancy) Kinsella, his ten grandchildren; Jody, Bonnie, Casey, Brent, Graham, Roy, Clinton, Jill, Katlynn and Ty and his three step-grandchildren, Jerry, Dustine and Kaytlyn. Ted also was a Great-Grandfather to thirteen children. He will be missed by his brother Earl (Daryl) Kinsella, sister Wilma (Ernie) Walz, sisters-in-law Phyllis Kinsella, Ruth (Floyd) McMullen, brother-in-law Kurt (Frances) Walz and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and 3 brothers, Ron, Harold and Lloyd.

Dad was a Water Well Driller for over 65 years. This was a job he loved, still doing and supervising jobs until his passing.  There was many an urgent phone call from dad to run into Calgary to pick up supplies. His grand children meant everything to him and at one time or another he employed every one of them.

Dad was a man of many interests, such as golfing, and travelling. He was often found at the Innisfail Legion, visiting with friends. Dad was a winner! From the Meat Draws at the Legion to Home/Hospital Lotteries, he almost always won something. His family often reaped the benefit of these wins.  Dad was also an avid Crib player. He travelled throughout Alberta with his partner playing in tournaments, and usually came home with some prize money. He was especially excited when, one year, they came very close to attending the Legion championship for Canada.  After Mom’s passing, Dad became quite the gardener. He grew huge gardens and kept many of us and his friends, supplied with fresh vegetables. Dad really enjoyed cooking and baking. His specialty was pie. He loved pies of all kinds. The television was always on loud as ever, and he liked the shopping channel. Any new cookware or gadget was soon to grace his kitchen cupboard…especially if it was a 2 for 1 deal! When the Brier was on, he would cook you dinner and want you to spend the afternoon watching with him. Politics and cell phones were frustrating subjects for him. He didn’t understand if you have a phone with you all the time, “Why the H_ _ _ can’t you answer it?” His daily trips through the farmyard to “Make sure everyone is working” were sure to attract a comment or two.

Dad was always there for us.  You will be missed!

In lieu of Flowers please consider a donation to the Innisfail Legion.
