It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Flora Layden of Red Deer on April 22, 2017 at 84 years, surrounded by her family at the Red Deer Hospice Society. Flora was born on September 3, 1932 in Edmonton, Alberta. Flora will be lovingly remembered by her children; Clark (Donna), Michael, Reginald (Gai), Hal, Patrick (Sherrilee) and Gaytan (Bob) Thiels; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Johnson, Roberta (Dale) Crowther, brothers; Gary (Terry) Russell, Gordon (Kathy) Russell; step sister, Mary-June (Henry) Schaap ; step brothers, Albert (Bev) Russell, Dr. James Russell, Ralph (Sharon) Russell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James Douglas Layden, her father Robert Halbert, her mother Jeanette Russell, step – father Dr, James W. Russell, brother Wilson Halbert and nephew David Halbert. A celebration of Flora's life will be held at the Red Deer Legion, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer on April 28, 2017 at 12:00 noon. If desired, Memorial Donations in Flora's honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 3S6.

So sad to hear about Flo's passing. She was a special person in our lives and although we didn't see her much in the last few years, we are blessed with joyous memories of both Doug and Flo. My sincere sympathy to the entire family.
