Robert "Bob" Edward Schwieger

December 14th, 2017

SCHWIEGER, ROBERT EDWARD
April 19,1937 – December 14, 2017

Robert Edward Schwieger went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Bob passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre where he had been residing.

Bob was born April 19, 1937 at the old Three Way (St. Paul Hospital) in Rimbey, Alberta. He was the second child of six children born to Fred and Rose Schwieger of the Iola District. He grew up on a farm in the Iola District. On September 8, 1970 he married Clara Lovlie in Shelby, Montana and they moved to Bob’s farm in the Iola District. There they raised five children, Francis, Fred, Laura, Kevin, and David.

Bob enjoyed running his Cat, doing land clearing. Sometimes during his younger years, he would do oilfield work – which he loved. On the farm he kept busy milking the cows, doing fieldwork, and all that comes with being a farmer. In 1994, Bob and Clara sold their dairy cows and decided to invest in beef cattle. Bob also loved to play his guitar, sing, and compose songs in his spare time.

Bob will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 47 years, Clara Schwieger; his sons, Frank (Melodie) Schwieger of Bluffton, AB, Fred (Holly) Schwieger of Bluffton, AB, Kevin (Kim) Schwieger of Bluffton, AB and David (Ruth) Schwieger of Barrhead, AB; daughter, Laura (Harold) Grinde of Rimbey, AB; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Needham, Betty Taylor, Lilly (Doug) Ecker; along with numerous nephews and nieces. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Rose Schwieger; and two of his sisters, Sandra in 1967 (along with her 3 children), and Iola in 2009.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life was held at the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Barry Klassen officiating. Interment preceded the service in the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton, AB.

If friends desire, memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made directly to the Iola Fairview Cemetery, RR#2, Bluffton, AB T0C 0M0; or to Rimbey Christian School, Box 90, Rimbey, AB T0C 2J0.
