Patrick John Kenny
June 27th, 2020
We are very sad to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Pat Kenny on June 27, 2020 at the age of 73 years, surrounded by the love of his family.
Pat is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kay; daughter, Bonnie (Dean) Borys of Blackfalds; son, Jason (Denelle) Kenny of Peace River; son, Ross (Deb) Gardner of Irvine, California; daughter, Raina Gardner (Tim Reilly) of Winlaw, BC; daughter, Laurel (Jarrett) McAuley of Red Deer; grandchildren, Courtney, Nicholas, Christian, Brandon, Olivia, Dexter, Oscar, Roghan, and Dalah. He is also survived by his brother, Ernie Jr. Kenny of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts; sister, Terry (Bill) Tudge of St. Albert; twin sister, Barbara Duggan of Ottawa; sister, Moyern O’Connor of Ottawa; brother-in-law (bro), Don (Debbie) Bergman of Kelowna; sister-in-law, Linda (Alcide) Cloutier of Vulcan; sister-in-law, Jackie (Bob) Mitchell of Edson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, their children, and many beloved friends and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernie and Bernadette Kenny; his parents-in-law, George and Helen Bergman; brother-in-law, Frank Ambrogiano and sister-in-law, Ruth Kenny.
Pat was born in Hull, Quebec but grew up in Ottawa; he moved to Alberta in 1980 for work and to raise his family. Soon after he met the love of his life Kay, and in 1985 they married and blended their two families. His love for nature led to many family camping trips with close friends, the Jordet family. The wide-open skies of the prairies enticed him to skydive with his best friend NJ.
Pat was a devoted husband for 35 years and a dedicated father, always making sure his family had what they needed. He instilled his care for animals and the environment in his children. With a thirst for knowledge, his hobbies included listening to audiobooks and radio broadcasts from around the world. Always the life of the party, he was a prankster who loved to laugh and be with his friends and family. His wisdom, his smiling eyes, and his laughter will be dearly missed.
Cremation and a private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Deer Public Library or the Medicine River Wildlife Centre.Messages:
Dear Kay Thinking of you and your extended family at this sad time. I enjoyed working with pat at gprc. We served on the employees association executive for many years. I found pat to be a very intelligent fun loving man. I recall the day I became a grandmother. Proud happy crying tears of joy. I had a grandson. One day pat arrived at my window looking a little down. I said why so glum chum. His reply was that !$&” that kid of mine made me a grandpa. Oh that’s nice I said congratulations.! Just relax and enjoy it. As time goes on you will love it and be a very proud grandpa. After that he would appear at my window saying you were right you know. As our friendship carried on we would greet each other hi grandma hi grandpa and so life and work went on. Oh for the good old days. If one has to work be grateful that we could enjoy it. Best regards Sharon alessio( zahara).
To Kay and family and Lion-Cat. Our deepest sympathy to you all, on the passing of Pat. A very social neighbour, who always made time for a cheery smile and a wave, (and weather permitting!) a chat. Petting our dogs, who all seemed to be drawn to him, and enjoyed their meetings, whether through the fence, or out and about. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with you all, at this difficult time. Gary, Maggie and Molly-Dog

Sorry to hear of your loss Kay. In the few years that I had the opportunity to work with Pat, I have many great memories of working together. Pat brought many skills and experience with him, but more importantly brought a great attitude and made every day a little bit better for all that he touched.
