Elizabeth Schmidt

April 3rd, 2012

It is with great sadness the family of Betty Schmidt announce her passing on April 3, 2012 in Regina, SK.  Elizabeth was born on February 14, 1929 to Matthias and Veronica Kuntz of Grayson, SK.  She attended the Columbia School in Grayson, SK.  At the age of 24 years, she married the late George Schmidt of Liebenthal, SK on June 16, 1953.  They lived on a farm southeast of Liebenthal with their four daughters Betty-Ann, Yvonne, Josephine, and Georgina.  Mom loved to bake, cook, and keep the house spotless.  She also enjoyed cards, playing bingo, and visiting her friends.  She made the best chokecherry jam as well as many other different jams and jellies.  Mom enjoyed the farm life until 1995 when she moved to Leader, SK.  Her place had a big garden and she loved to be in competition with her girls to see who could grow the biggest produce.  Our mother was gifted with the art of crocheting, making many beautiful dollies of all sizes and shapes, as well as tablecloths.  This was her relaxing time from the long days of work.  Mom also joined the Ceramics Club in Leader where she made various ceramics for her daughters and grandchildren.  Mom also loved going for coffee or a meal at the Leader Inn so she could visit with Georgina.  Mom especially enjoyed her ice cream at her favorite stop at the Big 10-4.  Elizabeth leaves to mourn her four daughters Betty-Ann (Perry Dales) and their daughters Holly (Jon) Morgan and Heather (Ryan), all of Regina, SK; Yvonne (Allan) Fyke and their daughter Candice Fyke (Birch) and their daughter Jade, all of Saskatoon, SK, and son Ashley (Leanne) Fyke and their children Larressa Ann and Austin, all of Langley, BC; Josie Schmidt (Dale Rauch) of Leader, SK; Georgina (Dana) Anhorn and their son Travis, all of Leader, SK.  She is also survived by her sisters Karey (Alfred) Selinger, Amy (Henry) Kulscar, and Mary (Al) Miller; her brothers Phillip (Erica) Kuntz, Ben (Earla) Kuntz, and Pius (Gladys) Kuntz; brothers-in-law Raymond Rieger and Gerry (Cheryl) Acton as well as many nieces, nephews, and good friends.  Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Matthias and Veronica (Stradeski) Kuntz; brothers Tony and Clem Kuntz; sister Aggie Acton; sisters-in-law Rose Rieger and Dolores Kuntz; and the father of her children the late George Schmidt.  Mom will be dearly missed by her family and will be fondly remembered by her many friends.  Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church, Leader, SK with Father Emmanuel Azike.   Interment took place in Leader Cemetery.  Friends so wishing may remember Betty Schmidt with a memorial gift to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Larrissa Fyke Trust Fund, c/o Sandhills Credit Union, Leader, SK.

Messages:

Dear Mom I think of this not as your wish, but as a reminder of when you said," after the mass you all go to the Hotel for lunch" that's exactly what we did. Thank you for "being there" for me on May 9,2012, it was so much easier. As ever your daughter Georgina.XXOO
