Ron MacDonald
December 11th, 2019
Ron MacDonald, late of Bechard, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital on December 11, 2019 at the age of 81 years. He was predeceased by his parents John and Hilda MacDonald; sisters Marion and Dorothy. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Darla; son Bill (Wanda); daughter Deb (Ed); the apples of his eyes, his grandchildren Jason and Nathan (Tanis) and great-grandchildren Alexa-Rose, Averi-Lynn and Wyatt. He was looking forward to meeting his newest great-grandchild Amara, due in February 2020. Ron is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ron was born and raised on the family farm at Bechard, Saskatchewan and although he retired at 70, the love of farming and living on the farm was never far from his heart. He and Darla shared many adventures together over their many years of traveling to Weslaco and Harlingen to escape the cold winters. When they were home for cold months, they shared a love of playing and watching curling.
Ron loved hockey and especially his beloved Leafs. His hat “Leafie” traveled the world thanks to some fun-loving cousins! When the Leafs and Habs played on Saturday nights the air in the house was electric.
Family and friends were always a priority to Ron and he was always ready for a good visit and a hearty laugh. He loved entertaining at the farm and many summer nights were spent enjoying great food and amazing company around the firepit or camping with their fifth wheel.
The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses on 3F and the Emergency Department. Your care and compassion was beyond measure.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donation may be made to the Regina Humane Society.
At Ron’s request there will be no funeral service. Ron was loved by all and will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. We know Ron was met lovingly at Heaven’s door by his family and good friends. He is in good hands. We love you Ron and will meet again.

So many heart warming memories, when I think of Ron. I will cherish them. I can't help but smile when I think about running around the farm, as a kid, watching Oliver run free, and eating grass, and sitting around so many campfires sharing stories, great company and food. My love, hugs and prayers to all my family, at this time. We are all better people to have had him in our lives.

Our hearts are broken. We enjoyed many visits at the farm. Ron was so proud of his garden they grew and my favourite was the fires and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. He always had his wood pile ready to keep the fire going. He was a gentle man. Loved him and will sure miss him RIP Ron.

I was so blessed to have Ron, a truly wonderful and caring man, in my life for the last sixty years. I watched the love that he and Darla shared for all those years and they were such role models for all of us. Ron made the most of life working hard, traveling, sharing so many special times with family and friends, lending a hand if someone needed it or offering good advice if asked for it. What he loved most in life was his family and he was so very proud of Deb, Bill and their families. Thanks for the love and laughter Ron. I will always cherish my memories.
