Allen "Bob" Chanig
February 2nd, 2020
Allen “Bob” Chanig passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 in Regina, SK at the age of 73 years. Bob was predeceased by his parents Irme and Irene Chanig. Bob leaves behind his wife Melany and children Lydia, Rachel (Eric) Driedger, Jody (Kevin) Hval and Wanda Arreola Chanig; his grandsons Isaac, Diego, Adam, Ezra, Micah, Ezekiel, Abram and only granddaughter Maisie.
Bob was born in Ponteix, SK. He spent his childhood in B.C. and Mankota, SK, and lived in many places before settling down mostly in Regina.
Bob was a man who loved to travel. In his earlier days he could be found traveling Canada and the United States on his motorcycle. He traveled to Sturgis a number of times and could be found riding with the Dry Riders in Saskatchewan. Bob disliked the cold and traveled regularly to Mexico and then to the Philippines where he met his beautiful wife Melany.
When Bob wasn’t traveling, he kept busy by making improvements to his properties and working on his vehicles. He was a true DIY kind of guy; why pay someone else when you can do it yourself.
Bob enjoyed meeting new people and you would find him, no matter the country, talking with people he just met over a cup of coffee.
There will be a Come and Go coffee and conversation for friends and family on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Haven of Hope Salvation Army.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Bob's memory to the Haven of Hope Salvation Army, 2240-13th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3M7.

Bob’s passing will leave a large void in a lot of our lives but also we all have very fond memories for all who knew him. Remember girls you’re all in our prayers and thoughts
Bob was the most beautiful man I ever had the pleasure of meeting and being able to talk with about anything. He was a person of wisdom, love and compassion. His long wait for Melany to arrive in Canada tried his patience at times but he knew he would succeed. The arrival of his daughter Lydia filled his being with joy. The Chanig family was devoted to each other! His older children held a very special place in his heart and he loved humanity for what we are. People! My sincerest condolences to the entire family and know that Bob is resting in peace and guiding you with his spiritual wisdom and love from the next world!
Oh, Jody, we are so sorry...our heart felt condolences go out to you and all your family. Please find some peace in knowing family is always here for you. Blessings...
We will miss Bob . May he rest in peace.
Bob was friend to me for several years. He was a free spirit and outspoken. We were travel buddies. The South was warm, but Bob's personality was warmer. I extend my condolences to his beloved Melany and Lydia, whom Bob would go to the ends of the earth for. RIP old friend.
