Brad Cruthers
October 6th, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brad Cruthers, age 66, late of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on October 6, 2021 after succumbing to a variety of health issues.
Brad’s younger years consisted of his parents pouring cement grave covers all the way to Florida in the winter and back to Shaunavon in the summer. Brad had a challenging childhood, being raised by a single parent (or maybe he WAS the challenge). He graduated from Shaunavon High School, and during this time Brad was an avid hunter, trapper and loved to fish. He worked after school and on weekends for Walter’s Home Furnishing and later for the P.F.R.A. until 1979 when he took over the family business.
Brad married the love of his life (or so he said) to Janie Bolianatz in which they celebrated 42 years of marriage. He worked extremely hard and purchased a section of land where he resided until his passing. Brad was extremely blessed to be the Dad of David, Vanessa and Greg. They were the pride and joy of his life; he would do anything for them and it was always reciprocated twofold. Brad was most content when he was working in the cemetery where it was quiet and peaceful until the children came with their collections of Tonka toys and their cement “creations” that never made it home. He was a chauffeur, coach, teacher, cheerleader and an excellent provider.
Brad looked forward to the fall so he could go to Arizona. He loved checking fields, picking produce and trying to grow fruit trees. He did a lot of quadding and exploring the desert, but his favorite pastime was eating tacos and taking all his visitors to the taco stand.
Hurry to get there, hurry to get home. It was always an endurance test. Not only for work, but to see his grandchildren whom he treasured dearly. He loved to show them how to fish, gopher hunt, play crib and build monuments. During all his travelling and eating out, he always received the worst food and/or service. He liked his eggs HOT!
He was progessive and expanded his business to include building and selling monuments. Brad worked in various places in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Montana, even Florida and California. His craftsmanship was impeccable. Brad fulfilled his dream by purchasing a laser etching machine and created numerous masterpieces seen in most cemeteries in and around this area. He believed a handshake was all that was required and didn’t accept payment until you were happy with his work. His legacy will continue with the same pride, integrity and quality.
He is survived by his loving wife Janie, son David (Elysha), Colter and Jhett; daughter Vanessa, Halle, Sophie, Zach and Blake; son Greg (Chelsea); brothers Edge (Rhonda) and Mervin; brother-in-law Bill Jensen, son-in-law Kenny Vizbar, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews (Darren Jensen being the notable favourite). Brad was predeceased by his father, El, his sister Meredith (Muff), half-brothers Evan and Norman.
Brad will be forever loved and missed. Always on your mind, forever in your heart.
Celebration of Brad’s Life will be held on October 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Admiral Hall, Admiral, Saskatchewan.

Very saddened to hear of Brad’s passing. Deppesr sympathy Janie and all the family.I have fond memories of Brad from the time he spent with us at the PFRA. RIP my friend .
My family couldn't have asked for better neighbors and friends growing up as Brad, Janie, David, Vanessa & Gregory. Brad and Janie treated me and my brothers and sister as extended family members our whole childhood. Also couldn't have asked for a better hockey coach, hunter safety instructor, boss, hired man or friend as Brad Cruthers. Your someone I always looked up to and wished I could be more like, and I truly hope I told you as much at least once during our time together. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Cruthers family, and please forgive me for not being able to be there to say goodbye with you (David I'm sorry bro!) Rest easy with the Lord Brad, until we meet again bud.

Our deepest Sympathies to Janie And Family.
Our deepest condolences to all of the families. Brad and I were schoolmates at an early age and we had a few first experiences together. Remember being in awe of him when he started trapping and tanning his own hides I think he was only 11 or 12. I believe his first trapline was out by Phelans I didn’t know Muskrat and Mink even existed. Being a paperboy was pretty boring and probably easier. I think of him often. RIP
Our deepest sympathies and send our condolences to you Greg, Chelsea and the whole Cruthers Family!
