Alexander "Alex" James Honey

November 5th, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely and tragic accidental passing of Alexander “Alex” James Honey on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the age of 31 in a car crash on his way to work. He was predeceased by his grandparents Elmer and Audrey Huget and James and Gloria Honey. Alex is survived by his loving partner and soulmate Sierra Hamilton; parents Greg and Donna Honey; his sisters Lindsay Schmalenberg (Kyle) and Katie Honey (Dan); nephews Kasen and Rowen; and niece Anastasia.

Alex was happiest when spending time with his love, Sierra, doing just about anything. They shared many fond memories on road trips, heading out to the lake, cooking, and of course anything to do with their beloved pup, Asher.

By trade, Alex became a journeyman welder where his attention to detail, patience, artistry, and perseverance shone through. A prime example of this perfectionism was when he refused to break a weld, even though he could feel that his glove was failing and ended up with a second degree burn on his hand. Alex was the family’s self-taught go-to fixer for just about anything. Trouble with your computer? Issue with the car? Need some help with anything? Alex was there to figure it out.

He possessed a fierce competitive spirit, which came out when playing AAA hockey and lacrosse growing up. He had numerous provincial titles under his belt and was a known leader on these teams. In addition to his competitiveness, Alex was a true team player. He understood that there was more to sports than pure athleticism and that any team was only as strong as its weakest player.

His quick wit and incredible intelligence were only bested by his love for his family and friends. Alex, Al, Honey, Boy, Uncle Boyo – he was a man of many names to those who loved him, all of whom we will immeasurably miss.

Celebration of Alex’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 - 4th Avenue North, Regina, Saskatchewan. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alex’s memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association (www.sk.cmha.ca).

Messages:

Donna & family, I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of your wonderful Son and Angel. “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day….unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved still missed, and very dear.” Hugs and Love to you all Chris

The news of Alex’s passing was devastating to me. I taught him in grade five. He was an ideal student, respectful, conscientious, kind, and caring. His volleyball serve in grade five was amazing! Let his beautiful characteristics be his legacy and give comfort to all who knew him. My sincere and deepest sympathy to the family. Jeannette Bryden
