August 28th, 2023
With heavy hearts we announced the death of Melvin Wanye Dods on Aug 25, 2023
Mel was predeceased by his mother Gladys Dods, and two older brothers Allan and Keith Dods.
Mel is survived by his partner of 26 years Patrick Rogoschewsky, his father Ralph Dods, nephew Steve Dods (Paula) and niece Sherry Dods (Sasa). In addition, Mel is survived by this father-in-law Leo Rogoschewsky, mother-in-law Patricia Rogoschewsky and bother-in-law Leonard Rogoschewsky.
Mel is also survived by his three children: Melissa, Dianna and Dion.
Finally Mel is survived by many dear friends too numerous to mention.
Mel upgraded his education later in life with with a GED grade 12. From there he went to work in various occupations in the healthcare field.
Mel found his ideal job in being a porter at the Regina General Hospital - where his outgoing and friendly nature helped to ease many worried patients.
Mel loved antiques - he loved to attend museums where he got to see how life was like for the pioneers. He also, like his dad, loved cars and would love to go to car shows as often as he could. What friends of Mel will remember most however, is his positive outlook - and how he would give of his time to a friend in need, offering advice and understanding.
Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
Celebration of life for Melvin Dods will occur at a later date.

Patrick so sorry for your loss, it was always a pleasure to see Mel and have great conversations with him, sending you hugs
From playing on Francis St, to coffees at the Gulf, all of the Dods boys have been part of my youth. Later on there were visits and brunches with Mel and Patrick. To Ralph and Patrick, there are no words, just hugs. Connie
Patrick, I just learned of Mel’s passing. I’m so sorry to hear about it. We were friends in high school having coffee at the Gulf on hwy #1, and later. We lost connection until a few years ago when we met in our health careers. I’m so glad we were able to catch up. My condolences to you Patrick.
