Robert Sheridan Montgomery
May 12th, 2023
It is with the greatest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Sheridan Montgomery on Friday, May 12, 2023 with his daughter by his side at the age of 80.
Robert (aka Bob) was born on May 12, 1943 to Joseph Montgomery and Eva Montgomery (Sheridan) in Vancouver British Columbia. Later his family moved to Portage LA Prairie, Manitoba where he grew up. On September 5, 1969 he married his wife of 53 years, Eileen Montgomery (Zinn). They raised their two children Marshal and Marlis in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Robert is predeceased by his parents and wife. He is survived by his older sister Dawn, younger brother Ted and younger sister Karen; his children Marshal (Cattalia) and Marlis (Justin); his grandchildren Brittany, Ashley , Haley, Maysyn, Ruben and Byron; his great granddaughters Willow and Riley; numerous nieces and nephews and Sallie, his previous daughter-in-law with whom he had a special bond.
Throughout his life he had various jobs in sales. He sold life insurance, medical equipment across the Prairie Provinces, real estate, had various businesses endeavours and eventually retired from Home Depot in 2012 after his first stroke.
Robert was accomplished in sports throughout his life and successfully obtained his black belt (second degree) in Judo. He passed his love of Martial Arts and Judo onto his son. In his past time he enjoyed fixing, maintaining and renovating his home with which he had much pride in. Robert was a blunt multifaceted man but at the core, loving and devoted to his family. He enjoyed taking them on fishing trips, skiing, golfing and helping out at Eileen’s family’s farm with whatever he could.
In his later years he enjoyed watching football and curling with his wife as she was also an avid sports fan. His favorite shows were The Curse of Oak Island and Ancient Aliens which he would stay up late to watch. He was looking forward to spring and summer to sit on his deck. After the passing of his wife, he and his daughter were going to attempt to grow a garden as his wife had done. They were experimenting with various garden techniques and he was eager to see the results.
He had a very special bond with his great-grand daughter Willow. They would play little games of hide and seek, “got your toe”, or just dance to nursery rhymes. Every time she came through the front door he would greet her “Hey you!”
The family would like to express their gratitude to the friends and family who supported and spent time with him through the passing of his wife in September of 2022, for the past 8 months and during his 3 week stay at the hospital. Words cannot express the true appreciation we have of each and every one of you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for both Robert and Eileen to honour them together.
