Carmine Metereo
1945 - 2024
Carmine Metereo passed away on March 16th and was found by his close pal, Roy and friend Sylvia, the morning of the 17th. Carmine was predeceased by his father Pedro Metereo, mother (and best friend) Ruth Metereo; sister Leona; brother in law Roy Berger, partner Heather Smail, nephew-in-law Jeff Ferris, sister Maria Luhning, nephew Dean Wilhelm, and Niece Delilah Griffiths-Yakichuk.
Carmine will be remembered by so many! His son, Mark Metereo (Tammy), granddaughter Justine; step daughter Joanna Bridgeman (Jason), grandson Stephan; sisters Nita Black and Dolores Metereo; Niece 'Mitch' Michelle Ferris (Jonathan, Kian & Kyla); Nephew Kerry Berger (Krista & Josh); Nephew Dwayne Griffiths (Olivea & Madison); Great Niece Cassidy; Niece Erinn Almasi (Kruz, Riley, Jude, Roman & Emirah) and many other family and friends who will hold his memory close.
Carmine was born and raised in Moose Jaw and always cherished the simple joys of life. He was an entrepreneur, owning his own business. At 'The Purple Dragon Book Store' Carmine made many friends, and played endless games of crib. Carmine loved to camp, visit with friends and family, read, watch sports, and he was one of the Saskatchewan Roughriders biggest fans! He had season tickets for years making a day out of each game, enjoying the shuttle bus, tailgate festivities and after game celebrations. Anyone that knew Carmine can picture him wearing rider gear and cheering on his team.
Carmine enjoyed visiting the casino with friends and his mom before her passing. He cherished his trips to Vegas with his sisters, even though 'frugal' he loved to see others play and could people watch for hours. Carmine had many friends in his apartment building. He was part of the 5th floor which was self proclaimed, "the party floor". He enjoyed playing bingo, remoli, and socializing with everyone on a daily basis. Carmine looked forward to his daily phone calls from his daughter/friend Joanna, sister/friend Nita and his check-ins each morning from his sister Dolores.
We will hold a private get together for Carmine, wearing green jerseys, with pizza and a beer in hand, as that is what Carmine wanted. As a final tribute, his niece 'Mitch' will carry his and Heather's ashes to Vegas in May, laying them to rest in the desert, his cherished sanctuary.
Carmine, you will be missed. Here's to you—cheers.
